This is big. Let’s make two documentaries and debut them at the conference. We aim to tackle two massive questions about interaction design, What is it? and What do we do? We know there are no single answers. Our field is in constant flux and our community is young. We’re living in a fascinating time. Let’s capture it for the next wave of designers.

The idea is simple: Collect short video clips from individuals, companies, schools, whoever and assemble them into a mosaic of ideas and voices. And we want you to help with these two movies. This is your opportunity to shine.

  • “Interaction Design: What’s That?”

Go ahead: define the damn thing. What does it mean to you? How does it differ from other design disciplines? Let’s gather and juxtapose all these opinions for the first time.

  • “Interaction Design: A Day in the Life”

How do you do interaction design? What is your day like? Capture a moment for us. Show your work. Give us a glimpse of what it means to design the interaction of something.

How This Will Work:

You can interpret these two topics in any way you wish. Educate. Entertain. Act. Pontificate. Provoke. Have Fun. Go Big.

You can submit one video for each documentary. Videos must be between 15 and 45 seconds long. You host the video on your site and point us to the URL on the submission form. We will ask for a specific file format and resolution, stay tuned for details.

Videos must be submitted by November 1 to give us enough time to compile them. We will create 30-minute movies of each topic and debut them at Interaction10. After the conference, the videos will be hosted online by IxDA.
